Fallen Miami Police Officer

Original Message posted by Robert Jones, 9/15/07, 3:47am

Yesterday on my way to work I checked my voice mail and Randy had left a message that Miami police had been involved in a shootout and an officer was killed. I was unaware of the news at the time. It has been a horrific year in Florida for Law Enforcement. The suspect in this case was found yesterday and was gunned down in an exchange of gunfire.

As a society we cannot afford to trade a good guy for a bad guy. We cannot afford to trade a good guy for a gazzilion bad guys but I guess our hand is forced....A father of two is lost in that exchange and the society's loss is exponentially greater. The tragedy is so incomprehensible. I mourn for all involved...and I want extend thoughts and prayers and condolences to family, friends, coworkers and the law enforcement community.

Robert: These are the kind of stories that turn my stomach! It isn't a great or rewarding profession to be involved with unfortunately our society is so disrespectful. Rather than being grateful, the public uually fears law enforcement.

I know when a police car ends up behind me I sweat.

But whenever I come into personal contact with a policeman or fireman I thank them for their valiant eforts from all of us.

If everyone would do this, it just might make it a more appreciated job.

Needless death, so sad.

It was nice to see that it was ended without the flow of anymore "Blue Blood".
