Heres a web site that tells you where the lowest prices in your area are...

http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=

No joke.....This is really neat.

A max speed of 40mph and a max range of 40 miles? I don't think I'd be doing a whole lot of travelling in that thing.

I'm all for that! I honestly believe that over 50 percent of the workers in El Lay COULD work from home IF their employeers would let them!

But then..that might piss off the oil companies..and we can't have that, now can we?

Heh..yea well..when you think about it, how many people go LESS than 40 miles in a day?

The future..if we stick with gasoline...people will drive such a thing to work..and use their trikes for road trips! Hey..I can dig that!

On an average day, I do. I'm only 5.5 miles from work, so on a typical workday I only drive 11 miles. That should be more, but I haven't been taking Ashley to Griffith Park for our daily 3-4 mile walk every morning after work. I need to get back into that habit, but even that would keep it well under the 40 mile mark for the day.

It's on my days off that I drive more than 40 miles. Frequently a LOT more than 40.

I should dust off my bike and start riding that to work. I just don't know if I like the idea of riding a bike to work at midnight, though. If I do that, I definitely need to get a light for it first.

Stick to the bicycle. Cheaper and exercise to boot. We should all consider that.....um cept BB who would never make it home up that hill. He has to cart his in his truck to flat ground.

ah....NOOOOOOO!!!

I ride FROM my house, TO my house..and yes, I ride UP that hill! (In fact, I rode it today!) When you live on a hill, the only place to ride is DOWN..and then, to get home you ride...NOT DOWN.

The only time I "cart" my bike is when the winds are so bad that I COULD make it..but it makes my legs sore for too many days.

Anybody wanna join me?

And I do need the exercise. I haven't hiked since August, and I'm really getting out of shape here. I need to get back into it!

But, I still love to drive fast on a motorcycle. I miss that.

Age has taken its toll on me, I'm afraid

The faculty/staff parking lot for us is above our building, up a steep hill with 83 steps in five flights (Yes, I've counted them!) I'm pretty winded by the time I reach the top. I was telling Janice that back in the stone age during my days at Pierce College, I used to park everyday at the lot at the top of the hill by the Music Building and walk down the steps and back up again at the end of the day. I'd barely be out of breath and now that thought just pisses the hell out of me

August? How come its been so long? If you think you are out of shape what about Ashley?

I agree......nothing like movin down the highway...feet in those pegs.....wind blowin in your face. We rode up Lake Hughes Road to Lake Elizabeth last weekend. Great ride cept is got down to the mid 50s!

Ashley could use some exercise, too.

I stopped hiking and walking because it got too painful. There was something wrong with the sole of my right foot. I just couldn't walk after a mile or so. I never had it looked at, but a couple RN friends of mine said it was most likely a bone spur. My foot is feeling all better now. I just need to get myself back on the trails again.

It's never too late to start exercising! In fact..if it were me..*I* would be parking as far away as I could get..and taking those stairs!

I do. I have to admit, not by choice The campus is very hilly too, so I get a lot of exercise just walking around....And the ocean views just can't be beat!

I dont remember you ever saying anything about this. Glad it got better on its own and you can get back to hiking again. Bet you missed that Lonnie.

I haven't eaten off campus yet. I think "cheap eats" and "Malibu" are mutually exclusive terms

I'd love to have you guys come over for lunch one day. The food on campus isn't bad and you can't beat the ocean views.

It would be difficult to stay warm with it that cold....Expecially if I were riding a chopper with all that image to keep. Ive found the best wool blend long underwear that isnt scratchy at all. The bottoms have feet in them so Im kept warm from head to toe. My only issues these days are cold hands. Any kind of warm gloves makes shifting difficult it seems to me.

Have you been to the 9/11 Memorial way up at the top? Talk about a view! WOW!

GREAT idea! Lets make it in the summer time. We can car pool or you could be my passenger on the trike BB.

Maybe we could grab a bite and go up to that Memorial. Sounds like a plan to me.

You don't remember because I hadn't mentioned it here. I don't know if it's really completely better though. Every once in a while I can still feel it. I felt a little twinge or two last week at Disneyland. Of course, I had probably walked a half dozen miles by that point. I guess I have to work my way back up a little more gradually...

Yes, I do miss the trails and the forests. I can't wait to get back to them!

Have you tried those gel forms or different shoes to relieve the pressure? With all your photography skills its a shame to miss the wildness shots.

Sounds good to me!

(No "Taco's Mexico" 69 cent tacos huh? Sucks to live in Malibu!)

I remember when I was riding when in college and there were days that I had to come "out" to the valley very early. I remember going through a number of gloves trying to find what would work the best.

I found also that the worst was at the bottom of the hill, going north on the 405 right at the 101. There is a "pit" there that just HOLDS onto the cold and no matter what, my belly would start to twitch and such..and all I could do is just keep telling myself to relax until the other side of Burbank (where it would get a tad warmer again.)

Of course, in that trike you pointed out, there IS a heater for BOTH the driver and passenger...

We will have to smuggle some cheap food into Malibu! Of course, if we show up with say, Carrillos buritos, the entire city of Malibu might just run to the valley!

I have a friend that, everytime she goes to Disneyland she gets one of their wheelchairs. Oh, she doesn't need one..she just likes to a)sit and b)get cuts in the lines!

The woman I went to Disneyland with last week rented a wheelchair too, but she needed it because of a heart condition. She can't stand very long before she has to sit down. Waiting in line would be impossible for her.

As for cuts in lines... Not quite. Only about half of the rides have a wheelchair line, and while that line is physically shorter, the wait time is usually longer than the regular line. We could have gone on Small World twice via the normal line in the time it took us to get through the handicapped line.

Handicapped people can get a "front of the line" pass at City Hall, but they're pretty picky about just who gets those. You have to be able to prove you really need it, preferably with a doctor's note.

You laugh...but some riders have heated vests....chaps...gloves and socks. I just cant stand to be "connected" to all that electricity that way. Guess it would keep you on the bike if you were in an accident rather than thrown 100s of feet. LOL

Not that I know of

I did run into Pamela Anderson once, several years ago, at the Subway in Malibu.

The last time we took the teens from STAR to Magic Mountain many brought fake doctor's notes and braces so that they could go in front of the line. I was appalled, and I told the kids that. I didn't make any points, but I didn't care.

Yep, though I usually just go to the Law School, which is right up the hill from us and has a cafeteria, and eat at one of the outdoor tables overlooking the view.

There is a La Salsa in Malibu. I've had them cater two events for us. Good stuff!

I have inserts for my hiking boots, but I don't use them for anything else. I haven't tried different shoes, though. I went through several different brands of hiking boots before I tried the ones I have now. They work best for me. I was always getting blisters with everything else I tried. I don't have that problem with the Salomon's I use now.

A brace and a doctor's note was all it took? Disneyland would probably tell you to go rent a wheelchair...

I think that if you go on Small World enough times, YOU will be handicapped! (I really really really hate that ride...unless it is 103 outside and you need a "cool" break)

The last time I was FORCED to go there(by my family) I came up with an idea. What if you got a choir to occupy an entire boat...and in the boat before and after you have guys with vid cams. And all during the ride, the choir sings that supid song..but with the words changed!!! Now THAT would be funny!

I think that heated stuff would be great! If *I* had a bike and was doing early morning or wintery rides, I would get such things! I think that being uncomfortable on a bike could lead to problems...of course, being TOO comfortable could also lead to problems!

(No, I do not have a helmet that would be considered "ok" for a motorpickle..not for many many years now. I'll have to borrow one from you!)

LOL! While we were waiting in line, Greg (another Game Driven player who joined us for the day) and I were telling Randi what the ride was like. I told her she would have that damn song running through her mind for the rest of the day.

Sure enough, throughout the day she would occasionally look at me and start singing it...

I saw that! I'm getting very cornfused here... When I was in San Francisco, walking down Fisherman's Wharf, some random guy told me I was "very good looking". I don't think he meant it in a gay way, but then again, it was San Francisco. Since then, I've also been told I'm "handsome" by a couple women. And, there are two gals at work who give me very big smiles every time we pass each other in the hall. Now, there's Murph's comment...

I really don't think he meant it that way, though. He was collecting for the local soup kitchen, so I think he was just trying to butter me up so I'd kick in more money.

Yeaouch! I usually top off in Barstow. I'll bet it's the same there. Fortunately, I don't really need to do that. I can make it all the way to Vegas on one tank.

I'm headed that way in a month. I can't wait. It's been more than a year since my last visit. That's way too long. I'm used to going three or four times a year.

I'll do that. I'll be arriving exactly one month from today, and staying at Excalibur. I don't think I'll have much of a gambling budget for this trip though, so I don't know if I can play your magic machines long enough to make it worthwhile.

You never know...On my birthday this year, I saw a $5.00 machine with the progressive of $5,311.47...I played it and the first push I hit it! It is my birthdate... A real sweet birthday gift, I tell ya! (3-11-47, that is!) This is one of my best stories here in Sin City!!! What a thrill!

This money is going to my young son, Michael, for his graduation present from college! May 13th...finally! He knows this so it won't spoil the surprise, if he is reading the board.

Call me when you are in town.

Michael is graduating from Humbolt State University (his choice, not mine) May 13th. He has been going to college for 6 years and finally is ready to move on to Law School. He wants to be an Environmentalist attorney and/or an International attorney. His head is in the right place. He relises that it will take a lot of hard work to attain his goals. His brother, Rob has set the pace and example. Mike has always looked up to and greatly admired Rob.

He has been chosen to be an exchange student for the summer in Oxaka. Mexico. He wants to be fluent in Spanish. Guess growing up in Los Angeles wasn't enough...lol

We are very proud of him...This was the little guy that I couldn't get up to go to school from grammar school!

Okay guys.......when was the last time a "random guy" told you you were very good looking? Wouldnt you be tempted to break out in a run the other direction?

Traveling with my sister is an experience like that. Every time she walks into a room people begin smiling and are so respective to her. Makes me want to throw up sometimes.....Im like......Excuse me! *I* walked into this room at the same time! LOL

Maybe its your smile or demeanor that causes people to react in that way....sometimes. Gawd no one will be able to work with you after all this stroking!

How'd I miss that one!!!! Sometimes I don't scroll down far enough.

Anytime is great. I would suggest sometime after this week as there will be thousands on campus for the annual bible lectures.

It didn't bother me a bit. Like I mentioned in a post replying to Larry, he was collecting for the soup kitchen, and was probably just trying to butter me up so I'd donate more (unfortunately for him, I had no cash on me). I don't think he was gay, and I doubt he seriously meant it.

Yes, the topics here do tend to stray quite a bit sometimes.
