According to scientific reports a small colony of ivory-billed woodpeckers may exist along the Choctawhatchee River Basin here in N.W. Florida. The ivory-billed has been thought to have been extinct for the past 40 years until about a year ago when reports surfaced that the Ivory Billed was spotted in Arkansas. To my knowledge, no photographic evidence of the bird's existence has surfaced. I am going to spend some time in the area doing some passive obesrvations and photography and just maybe it would be thrill to get a good photo or two. This area is practically in my back yard.
