Did you miss me?
8/21/07, 12:49pm
I've been offline for almost a week while I was in the process of moving. I now live in Palmdale (it's a dry heat!) in a much nicer building and neighborhood than my old place.

I just got cable hooked up this morning. The Internet speed is awesome! Much better than my old DSL access. The TV picture sure is clear, too. That might have something to do with the fact that I'm watching it on my brand new Sony Bravia 32" high-def LCD TV with 1080 pixels of resolution and 8000:1 contrast ratio.

I also got a DVR with the cable access, so I can start recording and watching everything. That's going to take some getting used to since I haven't even had cable TV in almost three years. So... Where do I start?

Wow... yah, of course, you were missed, but it looks like you were having a ton of fun without us.

With your new DVR, I would suggest you start out your trek with the Travel channel. I'm sure you'll find a bunch of stuff that will suit your fancy.

Are you still working at St. Joe's, or have you moved on to greener (hotter?) pastures?

Good idea. I remember that Discovery and Travel channels were what I watched most back when I had cable before. I wonder if Samantha Brown still has her show on the Travel channel. I'll find out soon enough...

I'm still at Saint Joe's, so I'll have a bit of a commute now. I've downloaded a ton of audiobooks from Librivox and Audible.com, so I'll be doing a lot of "reading" (listening) now.

When I moved up here, I noticed there is a large medical center under construction about two miles north of me. It looks like it's going to be a huge complex and they've just barely begun construction, so it'll probably be a couple years before it opens. I should probably submit my resume when they do start looking for people, though.

Wow! I had no idea you were moving. That is a big commute. You might also want to check into openings at Boeing and for the government.

Best of luck!

It was kind of sudden. I'd been wanting to move for years, but just always dragged my heels and put it off. I heard about this apartment building a couple weeks ago, and after thinking about it for almost a whole week, I decided to take the plunge and finally do it. It feels soooo wonderful to get out of the Valley! Yeah, the commute is a bit long, but I have plenty of audio books to keep me occupied. The best part, though, is I'm a lot closer to the San Gabriel Mountains and desert areas where I like to spend so much time. I think this is also quite a bit closer to the San Bernardino Mountains, but I haven't actually looked that up on the map just yet.

That sounds great.

Some friends of mine own a sport fishing equipment company in Palmdale at Ave. R and Sierra Hwy.

If you're into aircraft, the Antelope Valley is a great place for aircraft watching. Be sure to check out Blackbird Park near the airport.
