OK, we all get them. After you use a sponge for a few weeks, they start to SMELL! Gross..you can't even pick one up without getting that stench on your hands.

I have heard about cleaning them with bleach and such, but what a pain. So just for the heck of it, I looked it up on the net...and what do you know..more than one site had the same great remedy...

You get the sponge wet, then ring it out, then put it in the microwave for a minute. Take it out and let it dry and the smell is GONE! The heat from the microwave kills the germs that are creating the smell!

I have tried this and it works! So, don't throw out the stinky sponge..give it new life....NUKE IT!

Wow, very cool idea!

I'll give it a try. Thanks, Bill.

Great remedy however I don't seem to have a smell in mine. Guess its because I soap it up and rinse it out every day.... to clean the sink and so forth. Hmm guess that goes for a lot of things. LOL!
