Okay tell me about this. Never had any nor do I know of a good place to get it. Is any of it "light" fair? Is it expensive? What do you think of it?

Great stuff, to me... you might get grossed out by some of the things on the menu (i.e. chicken feet).

My fave Dim Sum place in L.A., by far, is:

Empress Pavilion
$10 per person, full dim sum meal
***
988 N. Hill St., Suite 201 (2nd floor in shopping mall), Los Angeles (Chinatown); map; (213) 617-9898

The best dim sum in Chinatown! This place is a zoo for dim sum on weekend mornings, but well worth dealing with the hectic scene. The food is great, the prices are excellent, and the ambiance is raucous. Get there early if you prefer not to wait. Exit Chinatown exit on the 110 south, the building is immediately on your left, but you have to go around the block to get to the parking for the mall. (2004) Open M-F 9am - 3pm for dim sum and lunch, Sa-Su 8am - 2pm for dim sum.

---

I found the above review somewhere online. It is more expensive than $10/per... you pay per dish, as they come around and display the dishes to you.

In general, a lot of steamed stuff... I wouldn't call it "light."

I was about to say that sound great then read your last comment that its pay per dish. This group is looking for something different and less expensive I think.

BTW, I hate the chicken feet...

Each dish is pretty cheap - like $3.50-$5... and there are probably four of each item with the dish (like four dumplings, or four siopao muffins, etc etc).

Marie and I will go with Marie's parents, and the bill for four will probably run in the $40.00s-$60.00s. Not too bad.

So do the chickens toe nails stick out through the dough or what? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew! Actually it sounds like an interesting place to go for a change.
