All of us enjoyed this restaurant. I had grilled salmon with a honey BBQ sauce over it. The only odd thing was all our meals were served with white rice, baked beans & corn on the cob...and a tiny bit of coleslaw. 3 starches seemed like a bit much.

That is a lot of starch. Sounds like the Hawaiian thing where rice and mac salad are common on lunch plates

They're all over... it is a restaurant chain like an Island's (only not limited to just burgers). I remember going dancing at one in Riverside when I was in college...

The closest one to me is in Burbank, I think.

I don't know why they do that. But, if you go to L&L BBQ, as Bill and I did a while back, you'll get mac salad and rice!

Today is not good for me. I have to take my mom to the supermarket and then Janice and I have to go buy stuff at Lowe's because the contractor is starting work on our remodel on Tuesday. Tomorrow, I have to work

We are finally getting all that nasty mold out of our master bathroom. New tile, new cabinets, counter tops, faucets, etc.

Also, we are dry-walling the garage so Janice can hold classes out there and make it into her home office.

Lastly, we are replacing our dangerous heater, which has been recalled by the CPSC for causing attic fires. The company (Consolidated) went belly up and everyone who has one of these was basically SOL. I have been inspecting ours each autumn for any tell-tale scortch marks and so far there has been none, but I'll be happy to be rid of it. This also means we get a new A/C too

Hey, we've been here 20 years now, 'bout time we did something

How fun is that! That mold can literally make you sick which Im sure you already know. What kind of AC /heater are you getting? Our AC can be heard for a block when we turn it on and is over 20 years old.

You'll probably save on power bills once its in place as well.

Lol, well, right now, until the garage is finished, Matt's room is a warehouse for Janice scrap book inventory.

We were "over the hill" in L.A. yesterday to order the bathroom cabinets, so we went to our favorite Chinese place in all the world, Hu's Shezwan in West L.A. It was as incredible as ever.

We are going with a Sears brand one. We've always had good luck with Sears appliances and they have a really good financing plan right now.

Yep they said the new models are about 60% quieter than models built 20 years ago, which is how old ours is. They also said it will be way more effecient.

This is the first house we've ever owned that had central air. What a luxory it is! For sure we need to do that soon and Sears has always been good to us as well.

BTW, forgot to mention that there is a sign up at L&L saying that they now have a location in Tarzana. They didn't give an address..but I thought I would mention it to you as it might be closer to where you are.

As to where it is..well...if I know Larry Levy, he can be dropped in the middle of Tarzana and he will SMELL out the Hawaiian food!!

I am reading this carefully as my AC is also on the "old" side.
So, do you mind if I ask, what size did you get? How big is your house? and..how much?

Our house right now is 1750 sq ft, but we are turning the garage into a garage/classroom, so it needs an AC vent. This would have added a lot to the load of the old machine and I figured at 20 years old, we're pushing our luck anyway.

The specs on the new unit: 5 btu (old system is 3btu) 13 rating.
The price is around $10k, but remember we are replacing the old furnace and running more ducting and getting an improved filter system. The price for just the AC, plus labor would be quite a bit less, I would think.

Wow..serious bucks! I think that if I get anything done, it would just be a new outside unit. The furnace is more than enough for this house, but I WOULD like a bit more cooling.

The wife and I have been talking about the newest solar programs. Now, not only can you get half off with rebates and such, but now there is some fed tax discount as well. Makes it worth looking into.
