Spaghetti sauce cooked in crock pot

Because time is so limited with work, I usually like to cook food that are fast to make.

Well, I wasn't feeling well today. I decided to leave work early to sleep-off the flu-like symptoms I was feeling. I thought that I should cook something fast for dinner and just heat it up when it's time to eat. I wanted to nap the rest of the afternoon without thinking about what I need to cook for dinner.

But then, I decided to use the crock pot to make my spaghetti sauce. With the slow cooking, I was able to take a nice long nap, and I felt better by dinner time.

At about 1:00 p.m., I threw in all my spaghetti ingredients in the crock pot (set on high for about 4 hours, then low for about 1 hour): two cans tomato sauce, two cans diced tomatoes, lots of finely diced garlic, thinly sliced onions, black ground pepper, 1 table spoon of sugar and cooked ground turkey.

Because of the slow cooking, the sweetness of the tomatoes came out nicely. WOW! I was pretty impressed with myself. Even Rob said that his mouth watered when he came home from work. The house smelled of good home cookin'. I'm going to have to use my crock pot more often. The only time I use it is when I make chili and lemon-herb chicken.

Sounds good!

I use my crock-pot for brisket! Works great and we get a couple of days of great leftovers too! (I make extra just so I can have the leftovers!)

Funny...I have made my chili many many times..and I don't use the crock pot unless it is for serving purposes.

That sounds yummy! Pasta is a weakness of mine along with tomatoes. Love em in any form ...just about. Hope you didnt share the flu with Rob and are feeling better.

The tomatoes in this sauce are to die for... the garlic flavor just overflows in the tomatoes from the slow cooking... I am almost positive that this would be a really good method to make a really good tasting pizza sauce with chunks of tomato.
