So Doctor Yim brought in tons of....food hed purchased somewhere. No one could read the writing. There were "spicey rice noodles" that looked like large tube pasta with red sauce but from the reaction on some faces it was SPICY!

Another dish looked like a large oblong California Roll but it had bits of fish in it.

Hey I dont know what you call it...Im just telling my story......

And then there were these white puffy things..each in its own cupcake paper cup and sprinkled with flour. Now THESE were good! It was rice flour with bean curd in the middle I believe he said. One of them almost made an entire meal. YUM........

We'll convert you yet!!!

The California rolls are a good place to start.

Kabuki makes a "Spider roll". I know the name sounds gross! Personally I think they could have thought of a better name. It's really only a California roll with soft-shell crab added. Very yummy! You get the soft texture of the California roll combined with the fried crab. Incredible and all cooked too!

Yeah. Larry's right. We'll convert you.

You should try Unagi (fresh water eel). YUM! It's cooked, topped with a special teriyaki type of sauce. I guarantee that you'll be sushi lover once you've tried it. That's how I got started. Then I had to grow some "balls" and tried more of the raw fish. My first raw fish ever was spicy tuna in a handroll. OY! It's delicious! ** my mouth is watering **

Larry: The spider is one of my favorites too. I don't know how they make it at Kabuki, but when Rob and I used to go to Asakuma in Brentwood, the spider rolls they made were HUGE! Oooh, but it was so delicious!!!

Okay, I have to stop talking about sushi. Because I love it so much, I could eat it for breakfast!!!

Now, here is something that is odd...I don't care for Unagi and instead go for Anago (Sea eel). To me, it is a better, sweeter taste..but then...each their own eh?

We are at the point now that we will try the "roll of the house" just to see what combinations are being played with. Some of the rolls we have had have been simply outstanding..like the Danny roll...but I have to admit that my fav of all sushi is just a couple of pieces of simple Hamachi (Yellowtail). I could sit and just eat hunks o' yellowtail all night. Sigh............

Stop!! It's only 9:03 a.m., and I'm already craving for sushi!!

Yellowtail toro (belly fat) is one of my favorites and spicy yellowtail handroll. I also love salmon, oyster shooters and Uni (sea urchin) with quail eggs.

Oh great! Now I have to HAVE sushi tonight!!!!

That sounds like the Kabuki ones...They are the best! The rainbow rolls are great too!

We did! Well..we didn't go out..I went to Whole Foods and got a hunk o' ahi tuna and a cucumber. (We had the other ingredients) and I made tuna rolls for dinner!

So here I was, making dinner for 3 of us because the daughter was at work...and I am thinking that we might have leftovers and I like leftovers because then I can experiment..but then she shows up and that was the end of the tuna and ALMOST the end of all the rice I made! Could not really tell you how many rolls I made..and they were mostly the same (wasabi, tuna, cucumber, toasted seseame and then rolled in seasoned seaweed) but man, they were good!

Only problem with making sushi is that it is sorta like making waffles....the cook ends up in the kitchen with the "end pieces" while everyone else eats!
