I have started making and selling pickled quail eggs. In the farm community where I live and the area where the livestock auction is they were an instant hit.

I will have another batch ready by the third weekend of the month.

Go to www.recipezaar.com for anything edible.

where might we find these pickled eggs? Did you make them spicy? Maybe a good idea to do some this way. Good luck in this venture. Only ones I have had were on Sushi and they were raw and not pickled. (On Uni) Our Marie LOVES this..I pass on them now...

My birds laid the eggs and I pickled them a few days later. I have a new batch now and I'm working on a third batch. It has become a Saturday night ritual. Sat. night is like most people's Friday night. I only have one day off each week and that's on Sunday.

Well i am happy and excited for you in that you use your free time so completely. I have too much time on my hands I think. lol but I read a lot and crochet and watch "old" black and white movies with the real movie stars, which gives me pleasure. I used to go to the casinos with friends that wanted to be there all the time...I learned that this was not the best way to spend my spare time Now I play "granni" since my kids moved here to be close, much more fun and boy it takes a lot of time and energy! But well worth it!

I'll send you a sample if you like. It's better than raw fish!

Speaking of pickled eggs......We have an orderly at work that sent out the word that if anyone had ducks they wanted to get rid of hed take them! He has a nice piece of property with a duck pond and harvests their eggs and pickles them in a salt brine for 3 weeks or more. This makes a very special dish they serve on special occasions. He hard boiled some and brought them to work. Not bad actually.
