The news stories are just trickling in. Apparently, heart failure.

I was very sorry to hear about his passing. I especially loved many of his earlier routines, especially the "Hippy, Dippy Weatherman."

As I have gotten older, his curmudgeonly bit grew a bit tiresome for me (as well as his more extreme liberal political views)... but he was indeed a comedic genius who helped create the whole genre of political/social satire.
My fave is his baseball/football bit, here:

I agree with you abiout some of his political views, which made it ahrd for me to watch and enjoy a lot of his later work.
He was a genius and we're going to miss him.

He was a brilliant comedian. I also loved the football/baseball thing he did. The only thing I ever really cringed about with his stand up is when he started talking about religion & God. Although I thought some of it was funny, I wanted to go hide somewhere so I wouldn't be struck by lightning just listening to him. BTW, he was one of the best comedians of all time in my opinion.

I agree, his religious commentaries were hard to take, but he was a genius.
