After we said goodbye to our deer friend we continued to lazily paddle the remainder of the trip. I am always amis at the continuing influx of homes along the creek. We floated past an area being cleared for a home. We ould hear the heavy machinery and smell the smoke from the debris they were burning. We also passed another area and could hear the whine of a skill saw as another home was nearing completion. I remarked about the cabin on the creek theory. One person wants a cabin on the creek away from everyone. Soon everyone wants a cabin on the creek like the one is there and soon the aura of the creek is ruined for everyone. Even the coveted, wilderness, northern section of the creek is begining to see more and more signs of encroaching habitation. Cheryl takes a moment to enjoy the tinge of fall color along Econfina Creek.
