Minnie's First Day Trip
3/31/08, 5:13am
I took Minnie on her first day trip last week. I had originally planned to spend the week before that in Death Valley, but my car had a little problem that needed to be taken care of first. So, a week and $2,800 later, we made it a short day trip instead. The pictures can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/2eo8lq

Hi, Lon,

Great pictures...I love looking at them...Just like old times

Minnie looks like she's a real trooper.

Yep. We're getting along pretty good. This weekend we'll be going to Joshua Tree (first time for me!). Then, about a week later I'm taking her up to Jackson for her first time. Should be fun...

I'm not sure, exactly. The people I got her from adopted her from the shelter last November, so they didn't know anything about her past. They took her to a vet for shots and a checkup, and when I got her, they gave me the medical records. This is on one of the forms:

I supposed that could be a one, but I really doubt it. It definitely looks like a seven, but I don't know why he would have estimated her age as seven... I don't believe that for a second. Personally, I would have guessed two or three. She's very muscular and fit, has a ton of energy, and her teeth are in perfect shape. Her teeth alone are enough to make me sure she's much younger than seven.

When I take her to a vet I'll ask for a second opinion on what her age may be. I don't know when I'll be doing that, though. I don't want to waste money on an unnecessary vet visit when she just saw one so recently, just so I can ask someone else how old they think she is.

Cool! I'm glad she's a good traveller. Sophie wasn't. She'd always get car sick.

Look out Minnie! Next comes the hat and booties! She seems happy with her adventure.

Nope. Minnie will never wear a hat or bandannas. Booties maybe, since those protect the paws on long hikes.

The hat and bandannas were Ashley's schtick. I'm not doing that again with another dog. I don't know what Minnie's trademark will be, but It's gotta be something else. We'll see...
