My neighbor and best friend went to her puter this morning and her cursor was moving around on her screen on its own AND her Quicken & Adobe were open!

What would you say is going on there?

That doesn't sound good. Sounds like maybe someone has hacked into there and opened Quicken to get at her bank info? I hope she shut down immediately and notified her bank.

First off all, I hate tiny computers...the keyboards are WAY too hard to type on, and I just can't see those little monitors...

ok, all kidding aside, if you want my opinion...I would get your friend OFF of the internet, NOW! RIGHT NOW! Also, if she has any personal information on that computer..like credit card numbers or Social Sec. Numbers, then she needs to put a WATCH on her credit.

Next, you will probably need a computer guy to "clean" the computer. It could be now, someone's "bot" and needs to have whatever programs that are letting that happen be cleaned...IF they can be.

IF your friend gets past that stage, and her computer is cleaned, then before she goes back on the net, she needs a firewall and an anti-virus.

When she does get back on the net, the she needs to do whatever the latest security upgrades are from Microsnot. There have been some recent bugs and nasties out there that REQUIRE the lastest patches.

Good luck!

Thanks BB. So you think its a virus? I know she has a computer guy that talked her into giving him remote access so she can just call him and he fixes stuff from his home. My first thought was to disable that!

It could be anything..but seeing as how your neighbor saw the mouse moving and her accounts up on the screen, I would say, get thee to some help ASAP.
