What is going on with this President?

Heard short snippets from Rush Limbaugh on the subject yesterday. He was asking where the outcry was in times like 1998 and 1996 where Clinton made deals with the UAE.

Um, this was before 9/11, idiot!

We already know that our ports are porous. Do we need to hand a few ports over to the bad guys? And, when I say bad guys, I am not saying the entire UAE.

But, all it takes is a few workers. Imagine all of the Al Queda operatives who will turn in resumes looking for U.S. Port jobs?

The job of protecting our ports is incredibly difficult (if not impossible), as is. Why make it that much easier for the bad guys to do their bidding?

This is one that has me scratching my head. Especially since we have intel that says the UAE Government funnels money to Hamas and Al Queda.

This affects the Port of Baltimore - right here 15 miles from our home.

It's outrageous - it's almost unbelievable.

The guy who tells you to be afraid of terrorists is employing them! There must be something in it for him.

Why do we need to turn over things that belong to our country to foreign companies???????????????

Rob, I agree with you. I have always supported Bush for the most part during his Presidency, but this takes the cake. I have admittedly lost confidence in Bush's leadership after this incident. I'm usually not one to engage in politics. Personally, all Democrats & Republicans ever do is attack & counter attack each other. They are both just as guilty. I believe this country needs one unified party. As long as there is a 2 party system in this country, I don't believe our country will ever truly succeed because if we have a Republican President, the liberal media will always nit pick & attack any little thing they can get their hands on & spin whatever issue in their favor. If we have a Democratic President, the conservative media will always nit pick & attack any little thing they can get their hands on & spin whatever issue in their favor. It is a never ending cycle regardless what party controls the Presidency, the House, & Congress. I have lost my faith in our country's political system. It is always attack & counter attack by each party. They are both equally as guilty as each other. This is why I have grown to dislike politics. This is a subject I usually try to avoid.

Just a thought about Bush an the illegal immigration issue:

He can't win regardless of what he does. It's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I for one don't consider myself to be bigotted & never have. However, illegal immigration is killing our country in my humble opinion. I don't mind immigration in this country, as long as it is legal. I believe everybody should have an opportunity at a better way of life regardless of your race or gender. If coming to the United States is the answer to that, so be it, but everyone should be here legally. I don't believe in my heart that is a harsh stance to take. If Bush continues to allow illegal immigration, or continues to be soft on the issue, this country will soon be overrun my people who are here illegally. That means they are not in the system. This means they do not pay taxes like legal citizens of the United States do. Our nation's economy will eventually be destroyed, if it hasn't been to some degree already. By the same token, if Bush were to take a very hard stance on illegal immigration, he would be demonized by the liberal media, & would also most likely be considered or called a racist. It's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. On atleast this major issue alone, I sympathize with Bush, because any decision he could make that pertains to illegal immigration would be highly attacked & scrutinized. The next President, Democrat, Republican, or Independent, will face the same exact problem.

I think that if Hillary ran for President, it would be a shoe in!!!

....for the republicans!

I think the U.S. is ready for a woman President..but my prediction is that the first U.S. woman President will be a conservative.

I tend to agree with you, but I feel that the nation might want to make a change in '08. This has happened every so often throughout history and I think with the current situation this may happen. I only hope the Dems choice is someone good and a true moderate.

Hey, did you hear about the Hillary bumper sticker. It reads, "Run Hillary, Run."........Democrats put it on their back bumber, Republicans on the front bumper.

I am not sure about a one party system but the two party system we have stinks.

I am not a fan of Hillary...I would love for Colin Powell or Condeleza Rice or both to run for president.

I was a Bush supporter early on. I believed he was the best choice we had at the time. He is still the president and we have to live with the decisions he makes, and thus I am loyal to him but...I have little confidence in his leadership abilities. In my opinion he has made some idiotic decisions and continues to do so. I am incredulous at some of the Katrina stories where he was unaware/ignorant of what was taking place in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina....and the whole WOMD assurance he gave with Iraq...and some of the nominations he has made for the Supreme Court...and let's not forget the Florida vote thing. IMO he is the worst president in history.

I think Colin Powell would be a great choice. I'd love to see him run. Unfortunately, he backed out several years ago when his wife pleaded that he not run. She was concerned for his safety. Its too bad, he would make a great President, IMHO.

There's been some pretty bad Commanders In Chiefs over our history, but I'm not sure I would say he's the worst. Otherwise I agree with your post, Supreme Court nominations withstanding.

Kind of depends on the criteria used to define "worst". For sheer incompetency, Ulysses S. Grant has to be pretty high on the list. Sometimes I get the impression that G.W. is deliberatly f**king this country over, but I'd define that more as evil than as the worst.

My whole problem with that is there is NOTHING in the constitution that talks about only 2 parties! It's a "reality", but it is not in the document.

He probably would...but his wife is correct. This country, I think, is ready for a woman president. But I think a black man as president..well..there are just too many prejudices in this country at this time. I think if we elected a black man as president, that we would never see him because of the HUGE amount of security it would involve.

But now, here's the twist. I think the country WOULD accept a black WOMAN. I dunno why..but I think that Condi Rice would be elected before a Colon Powell.

Replying to myself here...

In a Usenet newsgroup I hang out in, several people were recently expressing the same sentiments as I mentioned here. I liked one guy's reply:

I think it is stupidity that is so profound that it merely appears evil.

Yeah, maybe that's it...

I agree whole heartedly Bill. I don't think the framers of the consitution had that in mind or there would have been safeguards to prevent it. It makes for some very corrupt politics.
