What is wrong?

Over the weekend, a cop was shot. Now, anytime a cop is shot, that is a shot taken towards society..but this one really baffles me.

(All quotes from LATimes.com)

The suspect, 52-year-old James Fenton McNeal, a career criminal who had served multiple prison terms for crimes, including armed robbery and murder.

what?

A Police Department spokesman said McNeal most recently was released from the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo on Aug. 18, 2002, after serving nine years for attempted robbery.

He subsequently spent three years on parole, which ended last November.

WHAT??

WTF are the courts doing? This is NOT a person that we want on the streets! Murder? Robbery? Why was this DICKWAD not behind bars?

Seems to me that we need to do some serious looking at our system here. We need to a)repeal the stupid drug laws that put people with a joint into the system and clog it up. b)Use our computers and technology to FINGER these JERKS and then let that information get into the hands of courts so they can sentence properly! c)Public record is public record..let's put transcripts and all other criminal information ON the Internet! Let's let people google up that guy that moved in next door.

And you know what? It's that or...we go back to the wild west where everybody HAS to carry a gun for protection.

BTW, the police officer that was shot is in stable condition.

Hi, Bill,

That really bugged me too. I wonder why the three strike law didn't apply to this loser. Well at least this time we'll save court costs on this a$$hole. I'm just sorry an officer nearly lost her life in the process.

Thank God, the officer survived.

Whenever I hear of a policeman or fireman being wounded or killed in the line of duty freaks me out.

These people are not in it for the money we can be sure..As they are underpaid.

It would be better for them to be actors "playing" said roles for the money so to speak.

I have to disagree with you here Bill...I have always hated "guns" so much that I would not even buy play toy guns for my four sons when they were little or let them watch violence on television.

In the old Wild West many people, as in modern day were and are killed that would maybe only be wounded if weren't for guns..

Ok so Charleton Heston will hate me...that is ok, I hate him and his opinions about gun owning anyway.
