It makes me shiver in fear when I think about the animal/human cell mixing that seems to prevail amidst the research world of today. Keep species pure! Mice/human mixes, now cow/human mixes.

You can read the latest on the cow/human mix there.

Opinions?

That is really a strange idea. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do see the value in stem cell research and at the same time I understand the concerns.

I have heard about the use of "pig" parts in humans, which sounded weird to me, but not anything else.

I have also heard that human flesh burning smells like pork. Gross, I know, wonder if it true?

Maybe it is because we humans eat so much "garbage!" Generalizing here so don't send mail...lol

Don't know about you, but I for one would have freaked if when any of my sons were born instead of crying they "mooed"

This seems against religious beliefs. Wonder if the clergy and rabbis have anything to say about this.

Well they laughed at Columbus as the song says...

I just can't agree with the need for research where totally different species are mingled at the gene level. Research where animals are used to test substances is bad enough, but to dissect then reassemble such mixed species is like something from a sci fi story.

I'm not into the religious stuff, so whether that is wrong from a religious standpoint I can't say. I can picture these experiments happening around the world, and I imagine there will be strange creatures grown, kept alive, and maybe escaping sometime in the future. I would think the temptation to create new life forms would be overwhelming for those with the know-how.

What's wrong with humans as humans, and cows as cows? As for stem cell research, I don't know that that is essential either. I see too many opportunities for exploitation of women, fetuses, umbilical cords and so on.

This is just such an odd idea.

From a personal standpoint, I can see and appreciate the religious implications of genetic research, but on the other hand, if it were a loved one of mine who might be saved by such treatment.....Tough choices here, though the human/cow thing is just too far out.

I have to agree with your way of thinking. But,when it comes down to a loved one, sometimes you are willing to "go there"...I thank God my sons took a chance on the "Xigris" to rid me of my sepsis infection. Was a miracle! Could have killed me they were told at the time, but I was in a pretty darn mess anyway. Brrrrrrr. Just remembering. It has been over two years since that awful 19 days In July/August.

Right. You are another miracle.
