Latino Activists Urging Boycott

Several California Latino activist groups are urging Latinos to boycott schools, jobs, and shopping tomorrow to protest the repeal of drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants.

The argument seems to be centered along a line of reasoning, exemplified by State Senator Gil Cedillo, who today said: "There's a hypocrisy from people who say we can't sanction them with licenses, and yet they hire them to do all the work they can do themselves."

"Every time you eat out, you sanction them. Every time you stay at a hotel, you sanction them."

So, the proposed solution is to keep latino children from schools for a day... call in sick to work... stop shopping. How does this help the cause?

Interestingly enough, the school boycott does hurt California schools for a day because government funding to our schools depends heavily on student attendance. One So-Cal school, for instance, is enticing students to attend school tomorrow by raffling off a television.

It annoys the hell out of me that Latino groups are making this a LATINO issue. It's simply an immigration issue. There is nothing stopping an "illegal alien" from driving in California.

A driver's license from their own country is sufficient in much the same way that I can go to the UK and drive around, using my California Driver's License.

Bottom line: the only reason that illegals (and latino activists whom I consider to be "extremists") WANT driver's licenses is to feel less pressure over being pulled over... and possibly being "discovered."

How can a person be "illegal"?

Hmmm... let's say that we lived in an Anarchy.

I wanted to start a bureaucracy that I was going to call "government."

What might happen to me? How would the anarchists handle me when I started building a credible group of "followers?"

Good, somebody actually is asking more or less original questions... q;-)
Unfortunately the way the question was worded i can't answer that. "How would the anarchists handle... ?" well why don't you ask them.
I can tell you what i would do, and that would be to help you out... as long as your bureacratic gov't doesn't force others to live *under* it who don't want to join. I always said that if somebody makes laws that is ok, what i disagree with is those people forcing others to obide by *their* laws.

Hope that clears some stuff up.

Well, my point is that we're screwed under either system.

A society based upon anarchy that wishes nothing but anarchy would, ostensibly, make those opposed to anarchy "illegal" in a sense.

I imagine that I would be burned at the stake for having the desire to create a government within an anarchy.

I did. It doesn't tell me anything. You say that you would help me (on condition), but that with regards to anarchists, I would have to ask them.

???

With regards to your helping me... let's say that I want to establish a government that forces "others to live *under* it who don't want to join."

What happens to me as I start generating a credible number of followers?

Well, that is the whole point of anarchy, everybody makes ans own choices.

I know i'm confused too.

I would treat that the same way as any assult on my life and freedom. (eg. I'd try to persuade you to stop, try to persuade your "followers", try to leave an go somewhere you can't touch me... if that doesn't work, kill you or die fighting (sorry it read like you wanted a direct answer)).

But there are ramifications for WRONG choices, right (i.e., wanting a controlling government)?

Every society is going to have "undesirables." American society calls "undesirables" who haven't followed the rules of entry into this country "illegals."

We don't kill these people or die fighting, though.

Hope that answers your first question.
