Another backlash from latino groups

I saw a "latino leader" yesterday proclaiming that this Bush idea is bad for yet another reason: that it automatically creates an "underclass" of people who can't get higher paying jobs.

So, I thought about this for a few seconds. Doesn't that underclass already exist? And, those who have entered into this country illegally have voluntarily accepted that status because it leads to a better life than they would have in their own country?

Under Bush's plan, these people get legitimacy, and no fear of being caught and deported.

What a silly argument.

Love your response!! I think there might be a few hundred mex/tex illigitimate Bush babies needing to get their driver's license! A native californian, I believe we can recover our losses from the car taxes, by taxing the "immigrants" three times the registration fees U.S. citizens are required to pay. The revenue recovered from registration, licensing, penalties, etc., could possibly put a dent in our debt deficit!

And, we can cook their babies and solve the starvation problem!

The basic premise of this country has been, since its inception, that a foreigner can come here to build a better life. I'm not a proponent of making life any different for those who legally enter into the country...
