I've been putting together a new page on my website for CA wildflowers... It's a work in progress, and they're not in any sort of order yet, but I've got photos of about 60 different species up along with their common and scientific names

Neat!

I read yesterday that this year is supposed to be a great one for wildflowers, especially the California poppy, due to all the rain.

From what I've seen it's been an early and very spectacular wildflower season! I went to Anza-Borrego 3 weekends ago and it was incredible! Going to Death Valley this weekend then Carrizo Plain and the CA Poppy Reserve on the two following weekends. Some folks have said it's the best year in a decade or two!

By the way, this is a good site for blooming reports...

I send Carol updates on occasion from the areas that I visit.

Hi Carol....Thanks for the web site. We want to organize a ride up through the preserve soon as its in full bloom.

My hubby is in Death Valley this week and says its specatular there. Greener than he's ever seen it with flowers everywhere.

I heard an interview on KNX Radio the other day with a NPS Ranger in Death Valley. He said they have received nearly six inches of rain, which is unheard of. I think their average is around 1"-2". He also said Badwater is a lake right now.

There are a lot of poppies blooming in Griffith Park already. I'm headed to Death Valley in a couple weeks, and I can't wait to see what that looks like. I've heard it's wet, very green and full of flowers. Should be neat!

Over six inches of rain, actually, according to the web site.
