I took these photos this morning in Pine Log State Forest. If you want to see me burn through a digital memory card turn me loose with some beautiful subjects like these and there is not enough computer memory anywhere to contain my enthusiasm. :D The weather was a little rainy and a little overcast. The first subject although the lighting was poor was pretty cooperative. The second one had a bit more temper. I do not pose or provoke any of the subjects I photograph. Ideally I like to leave them unaware of my presence if possible. Both of these snakes were in dangerous locations. likely to have a negative encounter with people when I found them so I did move both to locations that hopefully would make them safer and less likely to have any further human contact...at least today. I did photograph them as they were prior to my contact with them and I photographed them post-move. One of them(the first) took an agressive posture after the move. The second was more tempermental but was more appreciative of the break he got and took off for cover. The photos are in order of the timeline they were taken. I will probably have eight more photos that will part of additional threads. The above photos are all of taken of the first snake. The photos of the second snake will be part of the eight additional photos I add. The camo pattern on these snakes played havoc with my autofocus mechanism. With the poor lighting available for snake 1 it was a difficult photgraphic subject even though it was very cooperative. Snake 1 just took an agressive posture but never struck at me. Snake 2 struck at me several times but when he realized he was offered freedom he lit out for parts unknown and I was surprised at the speed he could move. It was a very rapid pace not unlike a black racer. -------------------------------------------------------- Friends are the best collectibles --------------------------------------------------------
