OK, last night (Monday) they showed the last episode of last season, which I had not seen. (Goodbye preacher).

They also showed the new episode from this season. ("Welcome to Deadwood!!)

So I caught two full hours of the ph*&^ing c&*ks&*#rs from Deadwood!

What is amazing is the feeling after the show is over. I mean..I feel like I have been through some sort of emotional work out. I just sit for a minute or two and have to absorb what I just saw..and everytime I am simply amazed at what this thing does to me!

I feel cussed at, beaten up and energetic all at the same time...what a great show!!

(Lon, you gotta see this..you in particular would LOVE it!)

I agree BB. It seems to me this is as true to life in those days as it gets. Just a terrific show beginning to end. Start with the fact that a can of peaches was their biggest treat and go from there. That rasty guy standing in the corner peeing into a bowl on the floor while carrying on a conversation was interesting as well. Just imagine the hardships they lived with. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Great show. Probably my favorite show right now.

Who's your favorite character on Deadwood? I'd have to say mine is Calamity Jane.

I looked around there, too. That seems to be their standard price for box sets.

I just wish they would release Grand Avenue on DVD. I don't know why they never have. I saw that movie a long time ago, and would love to see it again, but it's like they're trying to hide it or something...

That's a tough one because each character plays SO well off of the others.

Wait a month....it'll go down.

(BTW, at the "expo" for the marathon, they sell t-shirts and sweat shirts and stuff, for WAY too much money...so, I wonder what they sell for the monday AFTER the event....)

True...I just love Jane's lines sometimes. Puts me on the floor. She is coming back for the next episode.

A buddy of mine, Jacques Hay at Award Winner's trophy shop in Northridge used to be one of the tee vendors. I'm not sure if he did it this year. You might give them a call at 818-349-3932. They are located near Nordhoff and Reseda.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116443/

I can't explain it better than the one user comment on that page. And yes, Deeny Dakota was absolutely beautiful in this movie. That's one reason why I want to see it again. I fell in love with her... Anyway, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I checked on Amazon and found out it was released on VHS at some point, but then HBO must have pulled it again because it is not available now. Amazon lists one used copy, and whoever is selling it wants $50 for it. I'd pay that, but I don't have a VCR so it wouldn't do me any good.

Since I had the movie in mind yesterday, I sent HBO email asking if they had any plans to ever release it on DVD. I just got a reply basically saying they had no way of knowing what they would be releasing in the future, so just keep checking the web site. I'll just keep my fingers crossed... Hey, it worked for Desk Set. I waited YEARS for them to finally release that one on DVD.

Looks interesting. The only star I know from the cast is A. Martinez.

Tantoo Cardinal, from this movie, was in another favorite of mine (The Education of Little Tree). Other than her and A. Martinez, I didn't recognize anyone else in the cast.

Hey! I just went back to the imdb page I linked to in my other message and the one user comment is different! Looks like they load different ones at random. I'll have to keep loading it until I find the one I meant to point you to and quote it here...

Ok, here's the one I was referring to:

The promo reads "Around Every Corner in America There's a Story Waiting To Be Told." The story here is about native Americans. One family in particular.

Mollie moves her two teenage daughters, and her young son, to a new neighborhood when they are expelled from their Indian Reservation after the death of her husband.

With no where else to go she goes to her cousin Anna, who lives on Grand Avenue.

Mollie has a drinking problem, can't hold down a job and has demons from her past.

The oldest daughter, Justine (portrayed perfectly by the beautiful and talented Deeny Dakota,) is an angry and rebellious girl. However, she has redeeming qualities. She is vulnerable and right from the start it is apparent she is hiding this behind her toughness, sexuality and her edge.

Her sister, Alice, is more reserved and responsible. She's the one that looks after little brother, Sheldon.

It's about a rough neighborhood, and the different races there, Blacks and Latinos, too. The Black gang thinks the native Americans are Latino. The black girl gang want to cut Justine, because she was messin with one of their men. This is the new "West Side Story."

It's also a soap opera in many ways. Past secrets etc.

This story is excellent. Superbly written, if you can get past the F-word (but hey folks, that's the way they really talk.)

Originally this was a two part mini-series on HBO. It can be bought or rented in a two video set.

Filmed on location in Santa Rosa, CA and Produced by Robert Redford. Yes, the Robert Redford. It co-stars A. Martinez, most recently of "General Hospital," and Alexis Cruz of "Touched By An Angel."

But the real star of the show is Deeny Dakota. This is her character's story. And Miss Dakota is as fine an actress as there has ever been

Neat! Jacques is a great guy. He runs a summer camp for disabled kids and a synagogue in addition to his trophy business. His assistant, Avraham Barkey is a good friend too.

Reseda and Nordhoff. South-east corner, in a shopping center. Not too sure of the name, but that is where I went.

Nope, Award Winners is located next door to Smith Bros. Hobby Shop just south of Nordhoff and Reseda on the west side of the street. Near the IHOP.

Ah...NOT the same place then..but from your directions, it sounds like you could walk out the front door and see the competition!

I remember going to that IHOP and getting pigs in a blanket for TWO..with hash browns...for less than 7 bucks....

...but then, I think that was before my kids were born....
