When I came to "AMEREEKA", o'k I do not have such an accent, about 40+ years ago,(that makes me very old), I had NEVER seen a baseball game, even though I was almost out of my teens.

After all it was the 60s, I think most Britons in this day and age have seen baseball, but that was not the case then.

I was intrigued immediately.
The first game I attended Robbie, aged about 1 and a half also attended, he probably does not remember seeing Duke Sims catch, and Don Sutten pitch, but I will not forget.

His brothers obviously did not get that experience but there were many more to come, resulting in the fanatisism they all seem to have, and have passed back to me.
I now live in Orange Co., and have tried to "get in to" the Angels, to no avail, I miss the Dodgers and their hot dogs, which are so much better.

Chris, you are now a Nevadan, you can now "get off the Angel bandwagon", and admit the "Dodgers", are better.

I think it's great how the Reeds' have this family rilvary between the Dodgers & Angels, although I know that the Reeds favor the Dodgers significantly more than the Angels. Next time I make it out there, whenever that is, I intend to go watch a Dodgers game & an Angels game. I really enjoyed the experience of going to Dodgers Stadium. That was pretty darn cool!

I take credit for a lot of the Dodger hoopla in our family...I was fortunate to live in Southern California most of my life. Ergo, "Dodger Blue" love and excitement...They will always be the best because of my early memories...

My dad used to bring me to the ball park all the time, when I was a DETIEGE, (Maiden Name) and we were so thrilled to cheer on the DODGERS, in my heart the best of yesteryear...

I feel Vince Skully is a giant among announcers. ( with Jerry Dogett his wingman or sidekick) Still there. One of the constants as Chick Hearn was indeed with the Lakers until his death. I miss him.

To actually see Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Jonny Podres, etc. pitch to the crowd's cheers, Maury Wills steal all those bases we could always count on, Steve Garvey's prowess at first base, later on (Mr. Clean), Johnny Roseboro, catching, didn't get to see Roy Campenella's incredible catching as most of his in Brooklyn, Wally Moon's homeruns referred to as "Moonshots", the Sherry brothers, Norm and Larry,Duke Snider, Gil Hodges, Managers,Walter Alston, Tommy La Sorta, manager, and greatest cheer leader of the Dodgers and spaghetti lover, lol one can never forget down the road. Now that was baseball!

I loved the way the announcers would annouce the names of the players, like Dave...y Lopses....etc. I get excited as I write, remembering.

There was nothing better than the hot dogs and time with my dad, a great fan, and the Dodgers.

Went to Don Drysdale's funeral. What a day! Robbie will remember that too. Imagine my boss taking us to that funeral on a work day! We got a memorial card with Don's picture and actually shook hands and offered sympathy to his widow there. wow!

We kids used to be allowed to bring what were called "Transistor Radios" in our day, to school on the play offs and of course the World Series...We were avid Dodger fans so long ago. Then it felt like they were family. I do not follow them now as when I used to go with the family Reed, the Dodgers were changing players so often they were not familiar any more to me. They seemed a lackluster team after Tommy moved on too, to me.

Even though my blood will always run BLUE for the Dodgers, it was better when I was growing up. Some of my memories might be foggy, but most of this I recall with such fun and excitement.

Hi Rub, look forward to your next visit.
I too enjoyed the "Dodger" game we went to.
Your last visit was too short., it would have been great to "get in" an Angel game, maybe next time.
the fact that you stayed in Commerce and had much on your agenda nullified that, however the time in the Casino was fun.

When "Booga" came out we did get to an Angel game, had great seats.I recall Lackey pitched the game, happens to be on both my BBM team and the "money league" team this year, Rob Sr.

I think Rub and I should plan another trip out maybe next year to take in a game or three or four.

Sounds like a great idea Robert! I don't think I can do it this year, but I'm sure that I can plan for it ahead of time for next year.

Thanks guys!!!

Maybe they will have figured out the new parking plan at Dodger Stadium by then. It's $5.00 more now ($15.00) and takes twice as long to get out.

Absolutely! The more the merrier! And, if Matt is in town, have him join us, too... and Janice, if she wants. Marie MIGHT go, but only if she could bring her crochet.
