Message #484 of 2499  *NEW* To From Subject Date Everyone Dr. Rub Another black eye for baseball ! 11/22/03, 6:13pm When I woke up this morning & turned on Sportscenter, the first thing I heard turned my stomach & literally made me want to vomit! Reports say that Gary Sheffield is about ready to sign with the Yankees! What's even worse is that Sheffield is my favorite player on the Braves by far! Why can't the Braves resign this guy? It's one of the small handful of players that they should target to resign with the Braves, along with Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones, Rafeal Furcal, & perhaps Javy Lopez. Don't tell me the Braves don't have the money to atleast resign 4 of those guys! That's besides the point though! I also heard that the Yankees are also probably after Vlad Guererro! How can baseball keep allowing this to happen? When will baseball formulate a salary cap for each major league team? I am seriously considering boycotting watching baseball next season! I'm starting to hate the game. It all has to do with baseball not having a salary cap like the NFL does. It also has to do with the New York Yankees! They try to buy championships every year & they are the only franchise in baseball who can afford to do that every year, year in & year out, & as a baseball fan, I am completely sick & tired of it! Baseball doesn't hold a candle to football & the NFL! Period! I will not watch baseball next season if that happens! That is a promise! Major league baseball is a sad state of affairs! Watching the Marlins beat the Yankees in the World Series is a memory I want to last & it may be best to let that be my last memory of Major League Baseball! I enjoyed Gary Sheffield when he wasn't complaining (which was probably ONLY the first season he played in L.A.). While my dislike for Sheffield as a person does not come close to your hatred of the Yankees, I could have cared less that he went to the Braves. REMEMBER: HE called the Yankees first. That's how he got their attention... I'm sure the Yankees just assumed that Sheffield would re-sign with the Braves.
