Don't get all excited just yet, Lon... I saw your post basically pleading for a preview function. I started work on it, but there are some things that are going to take a bit more time than I expected.

Don't use it for now... you'll just get sent to a "preview.pl" doesn't exist yet screen...

I have to tie in a new program that uses existing routines from the edit function and the display message functions... but there are some nuances that I know I will screw up if I just try to hoard through it right now while I am taking a break from work...

I'll keep working on it... hopefully something complete soon.

Cool! I'm looking forward to it... I don't see a preview button to not click on right now, though. I guess you must have removed it since it doesn't work yet.

Any particular ideas for it, other than the obvious? I use the edit function as my personal preview and fix... what should I add to make this different?

The checkbox to preview currently exists if you post a new message, BTW.

Pretty much the obvious. The way it works on the other forums I frequent is to display the message as it would look in normal thread mode. Most of the forums put two submit buttons below it, one to save and one to go back to the editor. The Canon forum, instead includes the edit box below the displayed message so you can make any changes right there without having to load the separate edit page again. That's nice in that it saves a few seconds.

Oh, ok. I hadn't looked there yet. It isn't in the reply screen yet though, huh?
