Logins and guests...

Can you please explain to me the stats section? I am really confused as to what a "login" is vs a guest..which one am I?

If I just view the first page, am I then a guest? How come the logins don't match the "last 10 logins"? Why is that number so high at the end of the day?

I'm not playing put-down..I'm just curious.

In my infinite wisdom, I removed Guest Accesses from showing in the "caller log." The caller log is what is displayed on the last 20 logins.

Whenever anybody accesses the board, it tracks the user.

Because of google and a variety of other search engines, I get a lot of direct hits INTO threads, without the users going through the rrbbs homepage (Marie's Bridezilla, American Idol, and Joe Millionnaire posts get a LOT of views).

These users get tracked as "Guests."

When I recorded these in the "caller log," the caller log looked like this:

Guest1234
Guest1235
Guest1236
Guest1237
Guest1238
Guest1239
Guest1240
BBlast
Guest1241
Guest1242
Guest1243
murphy brown
Guest1244
etc
etc

It just looked way too impersonal to me. Perhaps I should change the "logins" to "accesses?"

It's up to you of course, but I think of a "login" as someone like myself or murphy that types in a name and a password.

I agree...Who cares who visits here if we don't even know their name? Its of interest to you as far as hits here but certainly not me.

I agree with you... it is just not on the top list of priorities at this point... I imagine I'll get to it someday.

I hear that! (I have been extremely busy as of late myself!)
