Marie and I saw this finally... I hate not seeing a blockbuster movie before the blockbuster hype reaches its peak because it seems that 90% of the time, I'm disappointed. I really liked Dark Knight, but I didn't LOVE it... so, I was somewhat disappointed. To me, it was too long and it seemed to have big gaps in the story line. I have heard complaints about Bale's "rough voice" for Batman that was apparently purposefully modulated post-production. I loved this, actually. The cinematography was great. The performances were great... Ledger was particularly great. And, Bale was born to be Batman. Good movie... and I would recommend it... but I'm probably more in the 7.5/10 camp. I liked "Batman Returns"...   (more)     | |

Should be an interesting interview... http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/07/chapman .orphans/index.html
| My wife and I had always supported the idea of adoption, and as Christians, we understood the importance of loving and caring for others. But what I had not yet grasped was that adoption is a physical picture of what Jesus has done for me. I did nothing to deserve God's love; in fact, I was living as an orphan, without hope. Yet God chose to pursue a relationship with me, and through the death of his son Jesus, I was adopted into God's family. My wife and I began moving toward adoption with fear and trembling and asking all the questions people ask. I remember Mary Beth crying herself to sleep at night saying, "What...   (more)     |

The Price is not Right Posted by: Rob Reed |

This morning, I got the bright idea for another blog, and the initials for the title of the blog were AFTA. Aha. afta.com was potentially available for private sale, although it was registered! So, I jotted a quick note to the owner, as follows: | "Hello... I am interested in the afta.com domain. I'll offer $175." |
|
This received the following response about a half hour ago: | Hello, We have received your email regarding the domain afta.com. The owner of this domain has listed the sales price for this domain at $62487 USD. To make an offer, reply to this email with the offer you would like me to present to the owner of the domain. Offers that are not within a reasonable range of the sales...   (more)     |

Board of Business Compliance Annual Minutes Division? Posted by: Rob Reed |

I'm posting this notice because I just received some documents in the mail. Perhaps, you did a google search and you have found this post looking for advice. The mailer looks like it is a required, corporate form that you must fill out (and pay the $125 fee, of course). Quick advice: IGNORE THIS AND THROW IT AWAY IMMEDIATELY. Note the following: In small print, on the envelope that the letter came with, take note of the words "THIS IS NOT A GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT." Of course, this is in small print. But, it is the most important bit of information that will save you the bucks. Certainly, the government requires everything contained in the "disclosure statement: BUT, you are not required to...   (more)     | Last comment by: Larry Levy @ 6/23/08, 2:42pm | 1 comment >> Link   | | |
Cleanup L.A.: This Saturday Posted by: Rob Reed |
|

I am not sure I will be able to make it, but I'm going to post it on my blog if anyone is interested. From Pastor Dana at my church website at firstlutheran.org (heavily under construction right now by yours truly): | Cleanup L.A. is coming June 21st. We are working with the LAPD in the Van Nuys Division as we clean alleys and pray for people. We work with other churches in the Valley to bless the city. The police chief and the mayor now are intrigued. What is this all about? What is this "In The City For Good" all about? When we meet people in the neighborhoods we work in, they are shocked that Christians are working together and that we care...   (more)     |

This is a new RSS service that is really generating some buzz... my brother Chris recommended that I join, and I did... really thinking that I wouldn't care much for it. But, I find that it gets regular visits from me throughout the day. It's like hardcore twitter with newslinks and discussion. I'm at http://www.friendfeed.com/robreed. Check it out, and add me as a friend. | |
