New Years Day I dusted off my camera and got outside. As the sun was low on the horizon, I found myself between the setting sun and this osprey and its meal. It made for about a hundred or so pretty good shots. It is difficult to determine which is better than the other but these are three that I selected from the batch. A day later I photographed this osprey in flight.

I love to photograph birds but sea gulls are so common that I tend to overlook them. I took advantage of an opportunity yesterday to get this shot. Here is one more. I rarely do anything in black and white but this one seemed to be the right thing to do.

I took these photos this morning in Pine Log State Forest. If you want to see me burn through a digital memory card turn me loose with some beautiful subjects like these and there is not enough computer memory anywhere to contain my enthusiasm. :D The weather was a little rainy and a little overcast. The first subject although the lighting was poor was pretty cooperative. The second one had a bit more temper. I do not pose or provoke any of the subjects I photograph. Ideally I like to leave them unaware of my presence if possible. I was captivated by the details in these photos. Particularly in the top photo. Note the hooks on the feet of the spider for grabbing the web and also notice that the web is still attached to the vent of the spider so it creates/spins web when it moves. These photos were taken the same day as the photo in the other thread but it was a different spider....The same kind of spider but a different individual. | Last comment by: Robert Jones @ 8/11/09, 7:33pm | 1 comment >> Link   | | |
